Asylum London Wedding: Emm & Miri
I was really excited when the lovely Emm and Miri told me they'd be getting married at Asylum Chapel - a former retirement home for pub landlords, it was bombed in WWII and spent decades languishing in disrepair before being converted into the most beautiful and dramatic alternative wedding venue ("post-apocalyptic", as Emm put it). The brides added a theatrical flourish by walking down the aisle to Björk's "It's Oh So Quiet"! After grabbing post-ceremony wood-fired pizzas from a van outside (an inspired arrangement), we travelled in style on an old Routemaster bus to the Ritzy Picturehouse in Brixton, where a blues dancing class helped guests get into the swing of things. I've never seen so many people hit the dance floor at once!
